National Service Scheme Unit NO: 57 of St. Joseph's college, Pilathara is heralding towards its glorious 12th year with outstanding performance in social services for the educational development of the students. The unit has been able to stand apart among the other NSS units of Kannur University because of its unique style of planning and implementing various programmes rooted in integrity and unity.

The Programme officer Mr. Sailal N V was awarded as the The Best NSS Programme officer under Kannur University in 2018-2019 Academic Year. NSS unit was also selected as the best NSS unit Under Kannur University in the same academic year. The unit has undertaken various programmes under the leadership of Vibrant Programme officers and Support of the Management and Staff That ranges from the socially productive activities including constructing a creating awareness among the people to the construction of a good and safe house worth 11 lakh for a widow and three school going children at Pariyaram that is 5 km away from the campus . This most laborious project helped the unit to attain a great concern of the society in many spheres of social service. A series of socially committed activities have been conducted by the unit in NSS Adopted Village That is situated at Ezhilode 2 KM away for the campus. NSS unit has provided study materials for all students in every academic year beginning in June. This programme is titled Snehasanchi which has already given study aids to about 500 children in consecutive 4years.

NSSunit highly focusing the conduction of Special Seven Day Camps that comes in every December venues for the camps should always be rural areas which give great exposure to the volunteers including the experience of community living and community services. The schedules of all NSS Seven day special camp always contain many activities and projects that inculcate the social commitment and personality development for the ultimate educational development of the students. It is praiseworthy to note the co-ordination among the volunteers and the readiness that they show to undertake various projects along with the support and backup of college those are the pivotal part of the glorious success of this unit.
